Bring water to a boil in a wok or nonstick skillet over medium high heat.
Add broccoli, cover, and steam for approximately 1 minute.
Transfer broccoli to a plate.
Discard water in pan and wipe it with a paper towel (carefully as the pan will be hot!).
Add oil and swirl to coat the bottom.
Spread chicken in the pan in a single layer. Cook for approximately 1 minute or until the bottom side is browned.
Flip to cook the other side until the chicken is just about cooked.
Add garlic and ginger to pan. Stir a few times to mix in the flavors with the chicken.
Return the broccoli to the pan.
Mix up the sauce once more and then add sauce to the pan. Cook and stir until the sauce thickens, about 2 minutes.
Serve over prepared rice or ramen noodles.
