Black Jack Margarita

Black Jack Margaritas are by far my favorite kind of margaritas. I discovered them at my favorite Mexican restaurant, Ixtapa. They make the BEST margaritas. A black jack margarita consists of tequila and chambord. Chambord is a raspberry liqueur and makes this a raspberry flavored margarita. Yum! I’m a sucker for anything that is raspberry flavored. These margaritas have the powerful punch of tequila, but with the sweet taste of raspberry. A magical concoction, if you ask me!

During the shutdown orders during Covid19, I could still get take out from Ixtapa, but could not get my favorite raspberry margarita. What a bummer! Without knowing when I could return there, I was on a hunt to recreate their recipe and I’m excited to say that this one is pretty close!

Ingredients Needed

With most cocktails, ingredients are limited and preparation is quick. What a great combination for making something super yummy. Am I right? All you need to make this sweet margarita is:

  • 2 oz Silver Tequila
  • 1 oz Chambord
  • 0.5 oz Lime Juice
  • Salt
  • 1 Lime

The ingredients for this delicious Black Jack Margarita doesn’t consist of anything out of the ordinary as far as margaritas are concerned. Just make sure you have Chambord! Otherwise, this margarita is just a regular margarita! Nothing wrong with regular margaritas, of course, but this is not your average margarita!

Packs A Punch

Since this yummy drink consists of Chambord, it will have a reddish/purple color. And I have to say, that purple-ish red kind of color is very cool looking. Don’t you just love colorful drinks? I do! They seem so tropical and remind you of being on vacation. That is especially great, when you are stuck at home during a Coronavirus Quarantine! At least you can feel like you are on vacation during your quarantine-staycation. I guess I understand why liquor stores are considered essential businesses! They are good for your soul!

Even though this looks pretty, don’t let it’s looks fool you into thinking you are drinking a watered down drink at an all-inclusive resort. This IS a margarita after all. And it’s one that YOU are making yourself. That means, you won’t be cutting back on the tequila to save a buck. Well, guess you could cut the recipe back, but if you follow the recipe as written, you need to make sure you are drinking this fruity margarita responsibly. Personally, I can’t have more than 2. Tequila is no joke! And even though Chambord brings a fruity flavor, it still brings alcohol content with it.

Enjoy!

So now that you are aware of what a Black Jack Margarita is, how to make it, and you understand that it is a powerful drink, are you ready to test it out? I hope so! This is one of my favorite margaritas so I really want to share the recipe so that everyone can try it for themselves. I hope you like it. It pairs really well with chips and salsa and a warm evening with a slight breeze. Get those kids to bed. Mix up this cocktail. Sip and enjoy!
