Decadent Chocolate Amaretto Martini

A chocolate amaretto martini is the perfect dessert drink. This martini has the rich chocolate flavor that a delectable dessert possesses. And the amaretto really brings this chocolate martini to another level of sheer delight. And chocolate sauce to garnish the martini glass for an added sophistication as well as some extra sweetness.

How To Make The Best Chocolate Amaretto Martini

One night after dinner, I was in the mood for something chocolate-y, but didn’t have anything on-hand. Rather than whipping up a batch of brownies, I checked my liquor cabinet to see what kind of treat I could create. I found chocolate liqueur (what a score!), vanilla vodka, whipped cream vodka, amaretto liqueur and other tasty mixers in there.

Since I was looking for something chocolate-y, the chocolate liqueur was a definite, however, should I opt for whipped cream or vanilla vodka? Decisions, decisions. Whipped cream vodka sounded like a solid choice for a rich dessert-like martini. And amaretto is always yummy so that had to be part of my recipe.

I concocted a magic potion and the chocolate amaretto martini came to be. It sure tasted magically delicious. Oh wait, that’s the Lucky Charms jingle! No offense to Lucky Charms, but this drink tasted a lot better. Maybe I should develop a Lucky Charms Martini…

Besides the taste of this chocolate amaretto martini, the best thing about this is it takes less than 2 minutes to make. As far as desserts go, that is pretty amazing. All you need is whipped cream vodka, chocolate liqueur, amaretto liqueur, ice, and a little chocolate syrup to dress up the martini glass.

Be sure to keep this yummy drink away from your kids. They will be very interested in this and will likely want to try it. As much as they would love this chocolate drink, there is alcohol in it and they cannot have it. So watch your glass carefully. You probably won’t want to put this drink down though so they shouldn’t have an opportunity to sneak a sip anyway.

Can I Substitute Ingredients In A Chocolate Amaretto Martini?

Of course if you trust a recipe source, you want to follow the recipe to a T. However, sometimes you don’t have all of the ingredients and are wondering if you can make some substitutions without sacrificing the delicious taste. In some cases you can easily swap out ingredients and everything will still taste amazing. Other times, you might have to get to the store to get the ingredients needed. In the case of the Chocolate Amaretto Martini recipe, you are in luck. There are a variety of substitutions you can make for the ingredients needed and you won’t have to sacrifice the yummy taste of this cocktail.

Whipped Cream Vodka Substitute

If you don’t have whipped cream vodka, you can still make a tasty cocktail with other flavored vodkas. The best substitute for whipped cream vodka is vanilla vodka. Both flavored vodkas are sweet and have a somewhat similar taste. Further, vanilla vodka is a common martini ingredient so stocking up on vanilla vodka could be beneficial for other martini recipes as well.

If you love a s’mores martini and have the ingredients for it, you could use marshmallow vodka as a substitute for whipped cream vodka. The sweet taste will be a great addition to this chocolate amaretto martini.

You could also substitute whipped cream vodka with good old fashioned vodka – unflavored. No, it’s not as sweet. However, when you mixing chocolate liqueur with almond liqueur, there is plenty of sweetness from those ingredients. Therefore, using regular vodka will absolutely work for this yummy chocolate amaretto martini.

Chocolate Liqueur Substitute

While I do believe chocolate liqueur really shouldn’t be substituted in this chocolate amaretto martini, you could technically swap this out for other ingredients that you have on hand.

Rather than chocolate liqueur, you could use a 50:50 ratio of Irish cream and creme de cacao. Chocolate liqueur is a creamy chocolate alcohol. Therefore, a creamy substitute with a chocolate taste is best.

This chocolate amaretto martini recipe calls for 1.5 oz chocolate liqueur. Therefore, instead of chocolate liqueur you would use 0.75 oz of creme de cacao and 0.75 oz Irish Cream for a seamless substitution.

Amaretto Liqueur Substitute

Amaretto is an almond liqueur that has such a distinct flavor. A little amaretto is usually all you need in a recipe, especially in a drink. And while there is no magic ingredient that will provide the same taste as amaretto, you could swap Frangelico in it’s place. Frangelico is a hazelnut liqueur. Since both Frangelico and amaretto are nutty flavors, you could substitute one for the other. Just be aware that it will not be the same flavor, but will be similar.

Another substitute for amaretto is almond extract. While this substitution is more common in baking recipes, you could do it in cocktails as well. Please note that a tiny bit of almond extract goes a long way! This recipe calls for 0.5 oz amaretto. If using almond extract, you only need 1/4 teaspoon.
